Hot corners are evil because it is too easy to hit them accidentally.

I like the Keychain way of locking the screen but this is one of few things where Windows does it better.

Yea, that’s fine too, if you don’t mind entering your password every time you exit the screensaver. Personally, I do, so the Menu Bar approach is better.

There is another way that does not clutter the menu bar:

1. Go to System Preferences | Desktop & Screen Saver | Screen saver | Hot Corners… Set a hot corner for your screen saver.
2. Go to System Preferences | Security and check the “Require password to wake this computer from sleep or screen saver” option.

This is much easier on Windows, just hit Win-L.
